800 years ago the zombies came. They rose from the graveyards and morgues. They killed, and their victims rose beside them. Humanity tried everything to stem the tide, even detonating nuclear devices on their own cities hoping to somehow kill enough of the undead to have a chance. In the end, they failed. Now all that remains are the mutated descendants of the few who made it through the fall. Most have become little more than dangerously intelligent animals, but a few retain the spark of what we once called humanity. They are the Survivors. Join us in a game of Survival Horror, where you play as a Survivor, a pioneer living in a newly formed settlement beyond the few bastions of relative safety. So far, you and your comrades have been successful, but something has stirred, and it will take your wits, your courage, and your fighting skills to make it through the night.
First New Moon will be a one shot stand alone larp using the setting created for the game Dystopia Rising (DR). Leading up to Gamestorm players will work with the game runners via email to create a character that is part of the small settlement of Lion. Like any frontier town, a range of archetypes are needed; steel eyed fighters and gunman to defend, doctors to heal, and craftsmen to build and repair. Each of these characters will have their own personal goals beyond survival as well as connections to other characters. In the post apocalyptic world of DR, those characters come from mutated lines of long lost humans, and the game runners will be working with players to make sure that every character has the costuming and makeup needed to look the part.
The game will take place when the settlement of Lion is just reaching a month old, on the night of its first new moon. In the weeks before, the characters will have faced zombies, and mutated creatures, but unknown to them something different comes out when the night is darkest. What we hope to offer the players is the chance to experience a horror movie from the inside, characters will need to ward off attacks, deal with missing townspeople, and separate out friends from foes. Inspirations for the game come from titles like “The Hills Have Eyes,” “30 Days of Night,” “Night of the Living Dead,” and “Texas Chainsaw Massacre.” As a full immersion experience, we will be doing our best to make you feel and experience what your character is going through, including the terror.
Age restrictions will be strictly enforced.
